When we announced that Shipwire was joining the Ingram Micro team, we thought about how to best convey how we felt about this exciting new chapter.
We have worked hard to bring Enterprise logistics for everyone®. Along the way, we’ve helped many brands and entrepreneurs. So instead of writing about it, we thought we would tell the visual story of Shipwire with an infographic.
Cities shipped to
When we tried to pull a list of all the cities we’ve shipped to, we reached the maximum row number in Excel. Needless to say, we’ve shipped to a ton of cities — including lots of remote ones! In fact, of all the exotic locations depicted in the James Bond films, we’ve been to quite a few. In total, Shipwire has shipped products to 54 of the known locations 007 visited.
No. of unique products shipped
We love this number because it demonstrates the astounding growth of Shipwire. Not only have we continued to bring more and more brands onto the Shipwire platform, but the product catalogs carried by Shipwire are expanding at a pace that makes us very happy.
What’s even more impressive is that the number of products actually defined on the platform (products that have not been shipped, products from brands that were coming on board as we write, etc.) far exceeds the number quoted.
Hours of integration saved
This was based on the approximate 80 hours required to create a integration for all the distinct connections made to Shipwire.
We have specific service levels guarantees when it comes to receiving product, inventorying it, and ensuring it’s ready to ship. But even prior to this, a merchant has to set up their account (a quick and easy task with Shipwire, if we say so ourselves), arrange for pickup from their location or manufacturer, and wait for product to arrive at the selected Shipwire warehouse. For more complex orders, customs and duties delays and manufacturing lead time can make the wait even longer. That’s why the fastest time for a merchant onboarding — a total of 1.5 days from the creation of their Shipwire account to the inventory being ready to ship — is so impressive.
We bet they followed the Standard Receiving Guidelines to a tee.
We used carbonfund.org to compare our car vs. non-car commuters. About 1/3 of our staff commutes via train, bicycle, or other green method, and with an estimated average one-way distance of 25 miles, we looked at what the carbon footprint of those commuters would be via car (100.71 tons) vs. public transit (48 tons); the difference is what you see. Find out what your own employee commute, office emissions, or business travel adds up to in terms of carbon footprint.
- We didn’t ship the original Eiffel tower, but would have liked to.
- Shipwire has grown quickly, but we were absolutely astounded by how many unique products were defined year over year, and what the value of a ton of those products was (as well as the growth of that value).
- We used the circumference of the sun, not Earth’s orbit.
- Some of us bet on which word would be the most frequently used in gift messages. Even those who lost the bet were happy that it was ‘love’.
