A big part of the benefit of Shipwire is something that isn’t as easy to see as the warehouses, forklifts, or trucks that make up the network. This part is the Shipwire platform, and it is just as important as the other big components. The Shipwire platform is something we are constantly working on to improve and simplify how brands handle their logistics.
To surface some of these improvements and features, we’re publishing a short series highlighting changes which that might interest you. This is the first installment.
New UK carrier: Hermes
For customers impacted by Royal Mail pricing changes, it is possible to enable Hermes for your Shipwire account. When Hermes is enabled, it will automatically be selected for an order if it is the most cost-effective option.
Using Hermes will be help with domestic UK delivery and will provide an alternative carrier for rating your shipments. Hermes parcels are insurable, trackable, and are generally cost-effective for packages between 2kg and 10kg. Hermes Post offers Monday-Saturday delivery and also provides 3 delivery attempts without additional surcharge.
Contact our Customer Care team to enable Hermes in your Shipwire account.
International address validation
Address validation is used to confirm and correct destination addresses. When an address is entered incorrectly, the associated order is put on hold, and when it’s fixed, the order is released. To speed up the process, the best way to do this is through automation; Shipwire does this for tens of thousands of orders every year. To improve this service, we are expanding its footprint to include international address validation.
Currently in test phase, international address validation will allow merchants to correct addresses on international orders. Stay tuned to learn when this service is officially released and appears as a feature in Shipwire accounts.
Keep in touch for more updates on the Shipwire platform as we approach the 2013 holiday season.
