In April, FedEx announced a modification to its Additional Handling Surcharge. In May, UPS followed suit and announced that its Additional Handling Surcharge would soon apply to packages with a side longer than 48 inches or (120 cm) when previously, it applied to products longer than 60 inches (150 cm).
Both carriers put the surcharge change into effect in the first week of June, 2016.
Beginning August 1, 2016, the Shipwire Platform will be updated in consideration of these changes and a $10.50 charge will be added to the base cost of any package with a single side over 48 inches (120 cm) that is shipped via FedEx or UPS.
